Solid Rock Farm

Local Food for the Chelan Valley

After weeks and weeks of sitting around in the “under an inch” category, our basil are on the move, with the first full size leaves coming in this past week. Thanks to all the help with weeding we can actually see these little pesto makers in their rows. Edible flowers are growing fast too.

The workshed has some of the trim on it now. Thank you, thank you Gene for creating this space for us. Now we need a trip to recover excess apple prop stakes. We’re planning to use these for the siding of the building.

Looking forward to seeing folks tomorrow again. If you haven’t been to the farm lately, or even at all this summer, now is a great time. Beautiful weather in the mornings. Lots of green in the gardens. If anyone needs directions (At the Chelan Airport, turn left onto Apple Acres Road. Drive 2 miles and you’ll see a statue of a black stallion at roadside. Turn right here and drive up in back of the green house you can see from the road. The farm is on the flat ground above the house.)

Bring bags for harvesting.

For those who wish, we’ll have a brief meeting at 10 a.m. at the farm. Zac has offered to sell our excess produce at the Chelan Farmers Market if we wish. Also, he says we don’t have to be formally legally organized to sell WIC food, and the application is easy. We can visit more about this at our meeting tomorrow.

Love,
Lars
